Patterning Tile Possibilities
Patterning is really a great design option that some people sometimes fail to consider. The combinations and/or finishes are endless, and can dramatically change the look of you room, as well as reflect ones traits of personality and style. When it comes to tile flooring, it is never suitable to just think square when given so many sizes and options. Remember, it is a personal preference, so pick the pattern that works best for your project!
Tile Pattern Installation Tips
1) Remember to always make sure that the sub-floor is completely level before installation to avoid hollow spots and uneven finishes.
2) It would be safe to always round up to the next highest footage when calculating the square footage of tile that you need for your installation.
3) It is never safe to assume that your room is perfectly square. Always begin by squaring off from the center of the room and begin the pattern along one straight edge.
4) When doing a complete random pattern, the percentages for the sizes involved will not add up to 100%. You will need to allow for sometimes significant overage due to the centering of the layout.
