Granite Countertop Installation
Granite stone as well as other natural stone are cut and polished at our Philadelphia warehouse according to the templates we generated with the customer. When the cutouts are ready the granite is secured to the cabinets with silicone caulk. A fabricated countertop usually comes in sections that must be seamed. Separate stone backsplashes, corners, and extra long sections require seaming. The joints do not completely disappear but they are smartly placed to reveal minimal seam and the resultant line is a negligible 1/16 th of an inch filled with polyester adhesive, which cures to a hard shiny state. Multiple sections do not affect performance but do impact installation and total cost.
During installation, cabinets must be permanently affixed. Fragile stone varieties or those with excessive fissuring or unsound veins may require a full support under the stone. If an undermount sink has been chosen, a special support rail for the cabinet frame is suggested. Stone sections are set on adhesive beads on the cabinet.
The whole installation process typically takes a half day. You can immediately use and enjoy you new natural stone countertop. BarefootFloor.com gives 25 years warranty on any natural stone countertop.
