The Armstrong Difference - Hardwood

Although one tree may look like another, all hardwood flooring is not created equal!

Design Excellence:

More species, colors, surface textures, gloss levels and edge details.

  • Our world-class collection of wood species and hundreds of colors gives you virtually unlimited choices to beautify your home.
  • The natural wood characteristics of our domestic and imported exotic wood species offer an abundance of eye-catching options that span all price points from standard to premium.
  • Wood is a natural material that features changes in color and tone. The board-to-board color variation is more pronounced in some species, less in others. Select your preference, from least-to-most color variation, to suit your taste and your décor. At the same time, Armstrong sets strict limits on color variations, and will not sell a product that exceeds those limits.
  • Choose your favorite from a wonderful variety of warm, inviting earthtone colors to festive accent colors.
  • From silky smooth to handscraped and distressed rustics, Armstrong offers a variety of surface textures that accent your floor with a custom, handcrafted look.
  • From lustrous to low-key, Armstrong has a variety of finishes that complement each species' inherent characteristics. Low gloss finishes help hide minor surface scratches and wear, while higher gloss finishes are the ultimate for letting the graining and color shine through.
  • The edges and end details on each piece of wood create visual diversity for our floors. Square cut edges and ends create a smooth, seamless appearance. Beveled edges create a picture-frame effect that emphasizes the definition of each individual plank.

Installation Excellence:

Install on all grade levels, more DIY options, specially formulated installation aids.

  • Solid and engineered wood construction allows you to install hardwood flooring on any level of your house.
  • On and above grade level—Use solid hardwood or engineered hardwood.
  • On, above and below grade level—Use engineered hardwood.
  • We have dedicated installation products designed for use with our hardwood floors.
  • This includes "VapArrest," which seals concrete that has excess moisture for engineered hardwood.
  • Only Armstrong offers nail, staple, glue and interlocking floating hardwood installations for your home. This means your have more flexibility to suit your subfloor, budget and installation options, if you choose to install the floor yourself.
  • When your floor is installed, you're guaranteed consistent color, although the natural variations between boards are desirable. You're also guaranteed superior edges and ends.
  • The general rule of thumb when purchasing hardwood flooring is to buy an extra 10 percent to account for waste. But, with an Armstrong™ hardwood floor, you can expect a higher level of product consistency and superior edges and ends, which translates to less waste in every carton.
  • Armstrong specially formulated installation aids, including adhesives, ensure a quality installation.

Performance Excellence:

Our rigorous testing and quality checks are the best in the industry.

  • Our hardwood floors are protected by state-of-the-art finishes designed to preserve the natural wood beauty for years.
  • Aluminum oxide—Good—Three-year finish warranty. This is a multi-layer, UV-cured polyurethane coating that is more consistent in quality than site-finished flooring.
  • Advanced aluminum oxide urethane—Better—15-year finish warranty. This finish is applied with several coats and enhances the floor's resistance to scuffs and scratches.
  • Permion®—Best—25-year finish warranty. Armstrong's exclusive finish that has an even higher level of aluminum oxide, providing even greater resistance to surface wear- through. Our high performance Permion finish offers the industry's best level of protection. Permion is so tough, it's approved for the punishing demands of commercial applications.
  • Acrylic impregnation (on some products) offers twice the durability of non-impregnated products. In this process, liquid acrylic is combined with stain and injected throughout the surface layer of the wood to fortify the fibers and protect the floor from dings and dents. Acrylic impregnation is particularly useful in high traffic areas and households with children or large pets. Acrylic impregnated floors are so tough that they're warranted for commercial use.
  • Armstrong hardwood floors are subjected to numerous tests to ensure the highest quality product available anywhere. Tests include impact and gouge resistance, wear and abrasion, dimensional stability and water soak resistance.
  • We stand behind our products, with some of the best warranties in the business.
  • Armstrong specially formulated hardwood floor care products keep your floor looking its best.
